    Not getting new WU's

Anyone else not being sent new WU's by POEM?

    Code:
14/01/2008 17:06:24|Poem@Home|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks
14/01/2008 17:06:29|Poem@Home|Scheduler request succeeded: got 0 new tasks
I have 2 tasks running, one at 43% and the other at 15%. I'm usually able to grab more WU's ready to go... the server says there's 2870 units waiting to be sent out.

    Not getting new WU's

I have always had difficulty getting work units in any project till I heard something from Poorboy, something of great advice. While you may already have this figured out I thought I would press it anyway.

General preferences in 'Your Account' on the POEM@home project.

    Under 'Network Usage'
Computer is connected to the Internet about every
(Leave blank or 0 if always connected.
BOINC will try to maintain at least this much work.)
    Should be blank

Maintain enough work for an additional
    Enforced by version 5.10+
Should be at least .1 to 10 days

The configuration that comes with setting up any Boinc Project usually has the first option listed as 1 for all those not connecting to the net all the time. This saves wear and tear on the servers.

If you have BOINC Account Manager installed you probably have all this taken care of as each project is in a similar setup array every time you connect to another project.

Of course once you have changed anything go back to your Boinc Manager and hit the update in that project. This will of course resolve most of the time the frustration your observing.

Maintain enough work for an additional 0.25 days

Computer is connected to the Internet about every 0 days
I changed the "maintain..." to 1 days

I clicked "Update" on the project, and got the following:

15/01/2008 21:07:38|Poem@Home|Scheduler request succeeded: got 0 new tasks
15/01/2008 21:11:19|Poem@Home|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks
15/01/2008 21:11:24|Poem@Home|Scheduler request succeeded: got 0 new tasks

I also just noticed "Suspend work while computer is in use?" was set to Yes, so I changed this to No.

Hazaa! I just checked my prefs in BOINC, and that was still set to 0.25 days. Changed this to 1day, and 4 WU's just flew down, one of which is estimated to take 15hrs :D

    This is just a theory:

Those who aren't getting new work-----did you suspend work whilst moving to another project?

Just wondering if Poem "thinks" the suspended WU has continually been in progress, sees how long it's taking thus doesn't send more work til the last minute.

As I said, just a theory.

Also worth checking the "connect every" and "additional buffer" settings in boinc manager.

If all else fails, maybe a project reset and update may prompt new work.

Good luck with the Poem run.

BTW----I think a WU per core increase to 10 will happen shortly.
