Pre-Launch (new boinc project) Artificial Intelligence System

Launch of the "Artificial Intelligence - Reverse Engineering The Brain" Project
    Project Status: Pre-Launch

This distributed computing project is part of a larger project that is reverse engineering the brain in order to build a large scale artificial intelligence system. The first of its kind. Because we are a very small company (2 people) that is tackling an enormous challenge, we are asking the public at large to get involved by donating computer time. We will also pursue an alternative path, through commercialization, in order to be able to support and accelerate its development.

    Benefits To The Society: Exceptional
We have decided to use the BOINC distributed computing framework for computing intensive tasks. We expect to relaunch the program before September 1st, 2007 on Linux and Windows platforms.

Unfortunately we are experiencing some minor issues with an order placed for components that are needed for upgrading the server. We have to postpone the launch for another week. We expect to relaunch the program around September 10th, 2007 on Linux and Windows platforms. We will announce the exact day later on.
And I found that Wikipedia has a List of distributed computing projects.

That link goes to World Community Grid's upcoming projects.

Here's the BOINC one with a list of projects. I've been thinking of trying to update it with all the projects, but it's just so much work.

It goes to all distributed computing projects, not just BOINC or WCG.
And thanks, I did not know about the other link.

    Follow up.

The Intelligence Realm have released some test work units on linux.
They started of at 40MB and due to complaints have cut them down to 20MB.
However the length of the WU is still only around 10 minutes.
After gulping down 0.5GB in one afternoon, I had to suspend the project or blow out my ISPs download limit.
I have advised this 20MB / 10 minutes as still being a problem (as have several others) in their forums.
I am sure that some solution will be found soon, but for the moment its wide open for the linux fan who can support around 1GB per day per CPU (keep in mind these are test wus).

Got some great news from the project admin, Ovidiu
    Hi AMDave,

We will be reducing the download size to 6Mb over the next couple of weeks. We need to finalize the clients right now and we will deal with this issue later on. It looks like the fix requires only a web server update.

    Thank you for your support.

    Regards,
    Ovidiu
Hopefully, later on they will find a way of extending the work unit times as 6MB per core per 10 minutes (or less ) could still get quite costly for some. In the mean time, it is great to see some feedback happening and positive action in their forum. They are definitely setting off on the right foot.

Aww.. when did it launch. I don't really like keeping track of a project, only to miss day 1 of lauch.
    *Joins*

EDIT: Looks like WU is for Linux only. Guess I didn't miss much.
